Dr. Landsman received his education and training at the finest academic institutions in the country. He graduated with honors from the University of Michigan, and earned his medical degree at the New York University School of Medicine. He completed his Residency in General Surgery at New York Medical College, Westchester Medical Center and ultimately attained board certification in General Surgery. Dr. Landsman concluded his post-graduate training at The Mount Sinai School of Medicine in Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery, where he developed expertise in post-mastectomy breast reconstruction, body contouring and facial plastic surgery.
Certification by both the American Board of Plastic Surgery and The American Board of Surgery completes an impressive array of academic qualifications. He has been accepted as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and presently serves as Chief of the Division of Plastic Surgery at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, New York, on Long Island. Dr. Landsman is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Northeastern Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. Considerations before and after your procedures
Plastic Surgery Consultations
The consultation is an opportunity for prospective patients to gain a thorough understanding of the plastic surgery procedure(s) they are considering. A detailed medical history is taken and a comprehensive examination is performed. Each plastic surgery treatment option is explained in detail, and supportive literature is provided. Any questions are answered in a thorough and precise manner that is easy to understand. When applicable, examples of pre and post-operative photographs are presented. Patients are encouraged to ask the plastic surgeon questions and to return to our office in Suffolk County, Long Island as frequently as they wish, until they are satisfied that all of their concerns have been addressed.

Visual Aids
During the plastic surgery consultation, visual aides are used to help familiarize patients with the procedures they are interested in. Power point presentations are used to show pre and post operative examples of surgery. These presentations also dramatically illustrate the changes that occur during the recovery phase of surgery. Visual aides are particularly useful in establishing implant size for breast enlargement. Rice filled templates are used to help estimate the volume of the implant necessary to create a certain size breast. Patients are able to directly view this concept, improving plastic surgeon/patient communication in determining implant size.

Once Plastic Surgery Is Scheduled
Every effort is made by the plastic surgeon and the staff to insure that the patient knows what to expect at the time of his or her surgical procedure. Most plastic procedures are performed in our AAAASF™ certified facility or in an outpatient ambulatory surgery center in Suffolk County on Long Island. More complex reconstructive plastic surgery procedures may be performed in the hospital. An overnight stay is rarely necessary.
Overnight nursing care is available if desired or if deemed necessary. All patients must have a responsible adult available to drive them to and from the place of surgery and to spend the first night with them after plastic surgery. Proper after care will be arranged and any necessary supplies will be secured prior to surgery. Pre-operative and post-operative instructions will be reviewed and provided in writing so that both the patient and caregiver know exactly what to expect before, immediately following, and in the days and weeks after surgery.

Post-Operative Concerns
Naturally, everyone heals at different rates, and certain plastic surgery procedures require more immediate post-operative recovery time than others. It is a goal of the plastic surgeon to minimize post-operative recovery time so patients may quickly return to their normal work schedules, family responsibilities, and social obligations. Different procedures require varying amounts of time to heal completely and for the subtleties of the true and final results to become evident.

AAAASF™ Certified Facility
All aesthetic plastic surgery is performed in Smithtown, Suffolk County, at our free standing AAAASF™ certified operating suite with board certified anesthesiologists providing expert ambulatory anesthesia stressing fast recovery with minimal pain and nausea. Registered nurses, who specialize in ambulatory surgery, staff the recovery room. If necessary, an outpatient, free standing surgery center or hospital ambulatory center is utilized. Reconstructive plastic surgery is usually performed at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip, Long Island, where Dr. Landsman serves as the chief of the division of Plastic Surgery.

Plastic Surgery Fees
Aesthetic plastic surgery is not covered by insurance. Payment for surgery is made, in full, two weeks prior to surgery. Credit cards are accepted for payment. Third party financing is available, and eligibility is based upon credit approval. Plastic surgery fees generally include the cost of anesthesia, the operating room, and materials such as implants. Reconstructive surgery, by definition, is covered by insurance. Payment arrangements are made on a case-by-case basis depending upon the individual’s insurance plan.
