Neurotoxins

Botox, Dysport and Xeomin in Smithtown, Long Island

Serving Suffolk County

Over time, everyday facial expressions like smiling and frowning lead to the formation of noticeable wrinkles and lines that can make you appear older than what you really are. Treatment with neuromodulators like Botox, Dysport and Xeomin temporarily counteracts this process by relaxing the underlying facial muscles responsible for these wrinkles and lines. Botox, Dysport and Xeomin are popular among men and women who desire a quick and effective solution to bothersome wrinkles and lines, without the commitment of surgery.

With over 25 years of experience, Dr. Lloyd Landsman is one of Long Island’s most qualified Botox providers. He personally performs each injectable treatment at his office, using a meticulous and precise approach that delivers consistently beautiful and natural-looking results.

How Neurotoxins Turn Back the Clock on Aging

Derived from botulinum toxin type A, Botox, Dysport and Xeomin work by blocking nerve signals that cause facial muscles to contract. Temporarily stopping the muscles from contracting allows the overlying skin to smooth out and wrinkles and lines to fade. All three neuromodulators products take approximately 15 minutes, making them popular “lunchtime treatments.” Side effects are minimal but include temporary bruising, redness and swelling. Results last between three and four months, with repeat sessions used to maintain results long-term. Treatment with Botox, Dysport and Xeomin can be used to:

  • Reduce the appearance of crow’s feet around the eyes
  • Improve the appearance of frown lines between the eyebrows
  • Soften wrinkles and creases on the forehead
  • Minimize the appearance of thick bands on the neck

While all three neuromodulators work similarly, they do possess key differences. For instance, Dysport spreads further from the injection site than Botox and Xeomin do, which can be advantageous for treating larger areas. Xeomin differs in that it is made of a more purified form of the botulinum toxin protein, which may mean there is less potential for sensitivity to the product.

Dr. Landsman can discuss all of this in detail with you during an in-office consultation. He will help you navigate your options and select the product or combination of products that achieves the most desirable outcome.

Botox for Excessive Sweating and TMJ Treatment

In addition to facial rejuvenation, Botox is FDA-approved to treat hyperhidrosis, also known as excessive underarm sweating. It works by blocking the nerve signals responsible for producing sweat. Dr. Landsman can also use Botox to treat temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder, a condition that causes stiffness, pain in the face and jaw, and headaches. When injected into the jaw, Botox alleviates jaw tension and other symptoms related to TMJ disorder.
