Ways to Attain a Nicer Chin

Standards of beauty usually differ between men and women, but there is one maxim that remains true for both sexes: nobody wants a weak chin! Lauded plastic surgeon Lloyd D. Landsman, MD has helped many patients, male and female alike, enhance their chins to achieve a more attractive jawline. In this blog, Dr. Landsman shares some of the best ways to improve the look of your chin.

Diet and Exercise

If a double chin is detracting from a chiseled jawline, before choosing a cosmetic procedure, you may want to try the old fashioned approach of diet and exercise. While that ultimately may not be enough to get you the results you are seeking, most of the procedures will come out better the closer you get to your goal weight.

Liposuction and SmartLipo

Many patients find that fat stubbornly clings to the chin and neck, so if your healthy lifestyle does not address your double chin, liposuction is an effective solution. Though you may only associate liposuction with treating fat on the thighs and abdomen, plenty of patients have safely reduced fat deposits around their neck with this procedure, leaving behind a more pronounced chin shape.

Keep in mind that SmartLipo, a less invasive procedure than liposuction, could be the best choice if you would prefer to avoid surgery. The fat cells removed from liposuction and SmartLipo are gone permanently, provided you maintain a healthy weight in the years to come.

Chin Implant

To give your jawline a new shape, Dr. Landsman can surgically insert a prosthetic implant onto the chin bone. You will have the ability to choose the precise size and shape for the chin of your dreams, and it will safely remain in place indefinitely, ideally giving better proportions to your face.

Fat Contouring

If you do not like the idea of having a saline object in your chin, perhaps you will feel more comfortable with having some of your own fat repositioned there instead. After taking unwanted fat from a separate location on your body, Dr. Landsman will graft it to your chin, contouring it into the shape you have specified.

Injectables

Not every solution for the chin involves surgery. Sometimes, a simple injection of Botox or dermal filler can also help you to achieve a desired look. Beyond taking care of wrinkles, injectables can have a volumizing effect. When strategically placed in the chin, that can mean enhancing the size of the chin. After several months, you will need to return for additional injections to maintain the results.
