Liposculpture

Liposuction in Smithtown, Long Island

Liposculpture in Suffolk county

Liposculpture is one of the most frequently requested liposuction techniques requested in the U.S. and at Dr. Lloyd Landsman’s New York plastic surgery practice. When performed by an experienced plastic surgeon, liposculpture can successfully remove unwanted pockets of fat and in turn create a smoother and more sculptured physique.

Dr. Landsman has helped hundreds of patients remove fatty deposits from various body areas. He combines superb training and skill with the latest and most advanced technology in body contouring to produce long-lasting and natural-looking results.

What Areas Does Liposuction Address?

Liposculpture is designed to improve body contour. It is not meant to be used as a weight loss tool. Ideal candidates are individuals who are near or a healthy weight and wish to improve body contour. Liposculpture can be used to improve the shape and contour of the following body areas:

  • Abdomen
  • Hips
  • Thighs
  • Knees
  • Back
  • Upper arms
  • Neck
  • Axillary area next to the breast

Initial Liposuculpture Consultation

Dr. Landsman meets with each patient to discuss his or her body contouring needs and goals. During the consultation, Dr. Landsman will ask the patient to identify problem areas with excess fatty tissue, as well as other aesthetic concerns they may have. The doctor will conduct a physical examination to evaluate the amount of excess fat and the elasticity of the skin. Depending on these factors, Dr. Landsman may recommend liposculpture as a standalone treatment option, or he may recommend combining liposuction with other skin excision procedures. Patients who have loose skin and weak or separated muscles on the abdomen may benefit from tummy tuck surgery along with appropriate liposuction.

Liposuction Procedure Details

Liposculpture is typically performed as an outpatient procedure, under general anesthesia. During liposculpture, Dr. Landsman will create tiny, strategically placed incisions in the treatment areas. He will then remove excess fat cells using a thin tube (called a cannula) and gentle suction. Initial recovery from liposculpture can take anywhere from one to two weeks. Side effects can include bruising, swelling and tenderness in the treatment area(s). Patients should avoid vigorous activities, including exercise, until cleared by Dr. Landsman.

Liposuction Results

The results of liposculpture are considered to be permanent. This is because once the fat cells are removed, they will not grow back. If a patient gains weight in the future, the results of the surgery will be jeopardized.  Patients are advised to maintain their weight and more attractive contour through healthy diet and exercise.

Liposuction Costs

The price of liposuction depends on the number of areas treated, the size of the areas treated and the type of liposuction chosen. Dr. Landsman provides a complete cost breakdown during the consultation phase so his patients can make an informed decision that fits their budget.

Liposuction is an elective procedure and is therefore not covered by most insurance plans. However, financing options are available for patients who would like to make payments toward the total cost of liposculpture. Our Long Island office accepts financing plans through Alphaeon Credit, CareCredit and Payd.

Complementary Procedures

Liposuction is frequently paired with other cosmetic procedures to achieve amazing results. Many patients choose to combine liposculpture with a lift or skin excising procedure such as body lift, brachioplasty and tummy tuck for nicer contours with tighter skin. Please discuss these possibilities with Dr. Landsman during the consultation phase.

Liposuction FAQs

How Much Weight Can I Lose with Liposuction?

Liposuction is not a weight loss surgery, so set your expectations accordingly. Liposuction is designed to target stubborn deposits of fat that do not respond to diet and exercise. The results are much more effective for patients who are within 10 pounds of their goal weight. Dr. Landsman recommends first trying to lose weight naturally, then following up with liposuction to improve the results.

What Makes Liposculpture Different from Liposuction?

While liposuction’s primary goal is to suction out fat, liposculpture has the added benefit of reshaping the body to achieve nicer contours. It focuses on sculpting the remaining fat for a more toned appearance.

What Happens If I Put Weight Back on after Liposuction?

Putting on a small amount of weight should not have a significant impact on your results. However, patients who put on a large amount of weight may discover displeasing results. Because fat cells removed from liposuction are gone permanently, the fat is distributed to an area where fat cells are present, which can make the body look disproportionate.
